The Matthew 6:33 Academy currently has seven Dramatic Faith Productions. Descriptions of each DFP are below:
The Building Blocks of Christ A dramatic depiction of the house built on the sand and the house built on the Rock of Jesus. The Davises actually build these two houses before the audience. Tag along as they explore the world’s best-selling house built on the sand of this world and its sparkling luster, and learn why this house simply will not last. Meanwhile, the house built on the unshakeable rock of Jesus stands strong on its sturdy foundation. Which house will they choose? Based on Matthew 7:24-27: And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it. Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. (RSV)
Reap What You Sow We all know the saying “what goes around comes around.” In this exciting production, trees sprout up before your very eyes! Observe the Davises as they uncover the seeds behind the world’s bitter fruits and the luscious fruits of faith. How will the seeds they sow affect their lives? Based on Galatians 6:7b: A man reaps what he sows. (NIV)
Seek God First Seek God First is a satire about everyday life. In this chaotic family, each member is pursuing different goals, which is not bad necessarily, but they have forgotten one very important thing, God. In fact, God isn’t even on their list of priorities. On the verge of a breakdown, this family finally realizes their wrong focus and changes their way of life. Based on Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (KJV)
Power of Words “Sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!” We all know this is not true as we have all been hurt at some point by something someone has said to us. Watch the Davises discover that the words they speak can either bless people or beat them down. In this comedic, yet powerful portrayal of the effect words have on people, the audience will gain a clear picture of the connection between your choices, your attitude, and the words you speak. Based on Luke 6:45: The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For of out the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks. (NIV)
Plug In
Mesmerized by the world’s attractions, the Davis girls spiral downward on the path to destruction. After a big blowout, the girls search for a different power source and determine to plug into God. Based on Romans 13:1b: For there is no power but of God
The Heart Matters Enticed by the world’s treasures, the Davis's get locked into the rat race running after material things. After a wake up call, Otis reevaluates his life and changes his focus to God. Will the others follow or will they continue to hold on to the material possessions while giving up the more important things in life? Based on Matthew 6:21: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (NIV)
Christmas Special: God’s Greatest Gift “It’s the best time of the year” one carol states, but it is also the busiest! Join this family as they struggle to remember the point of Christmas between the parties, the gifts, the decorating, and the empty wallet! Will this family be able to take a step back during this busy season to remember the best gift of all, God’s Greatest Gift? Based on Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born…And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (NIV)
