sfamily casualHistory of Matthew 6:33 Academy

Matthew 6:33 Academy was founded in July 2003, and its operations have grown significantly. After Christine (the oldest daughter) graduated from college, the family thought she would be off to a big job far from Portales, but the Lord had other plans! From there, the family began to consider different ministry opportunities to pursue together.

Otis knew that going into business with family can either make or break a family. He decided that his family must create a biblical business model so the latter would not happen. Christine and Otis started looking in the Bible for a model to base their family business upon. Matthew 7:24-27 struck Otis. Eventually, they finished their biblical model, and one by one, the family decided to live by that model, God’s Excellent Model. The overall concept of the model was to live “in the spirit” rather than “the flesh.”

After one year, the family was transformed through this teaching and experience and came to the conclusion that if this transformed their family so dramatically, it could transform other families as well. A few months later, the Davises were invited to a local church to present a message in fifteen minutes. The creative challenge for the family was to figure out how to present a memorable message that would appeal to all ages in only fifteen minutes. At that point, they realized that the message would be most effective if done in a dramatic fashion. Therefore, they began to build their first Dramatic Faith Production, The Building Blocks of Christ, based on God’s Excellent Model from Matthew 7:24-27. The family thought this production was a one-time event. The Davises were so surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response to the production that they proceeded to build their second production, Reap What You Sow, and the rest is history!

The Davises create each production together. They all gather in the conference room to brainstorm and work through their ideas. Each person has a specific task. Otis is the engineer in charge of creating and building props with Leslie’s help. Christine and Sue paint; Christine specializes in lettering and Sue in scenic backdrops or sewing. Holly then builds the multimedia presentation on the computer and edits the music clips Christine chooses. Leslie finishes off the production with a script. The family works together and helps one another with his/her designated task. They are a team and need each other’s help to analyze, critique, and evaluate. Together with the Lord, hard work, effort, and many long hours, another Dramatic Faith Production is born.

Matthew 6:33 Academy’s Bilingual Emphasis and Assistance for the Hearing Impaired

When Christine made the decision to stay home and work with her parents, she asked the Lord to use her Spanish language skills. The first service and Dramatic Faith Production performed was actually performed in Spanish! It was a wonderful confirmation to her personal prayer. Since they began presenting in Spanish, they have created each production in both English and Spanish to reach different groups of the community.  Matthew 6:33 Academy has also presented to the deaf community, since there is no spoken dialogue.
